Effect of Higher Order Thinking Skills And Strategies on Academic Achievement: Evidence from Agricultural Students, Razi University of Kermanshah

Abstract

Since universities play a significant role in educating and training human resources to reach a great purpose in our country, And considering that Higher Order Thinking skills are important issues in education and learning especially in higher education institutions, Thus, this research was aimed at:" studying the effect of eHigher Order Thinking skills and Strategies on the educational achievement of Agricultural Student's Razi University of Kermanshah" in the academic year 2018-2019. The statistical population of the study consisted of 846 undergraduate agricultural students of Razi University of Kermanshah who were selected by random sampling and using Cochran formula 132 of them. The main instrument for data collection was a questionnaire made by the researcher validity of which was evaluated by experts’ panel, and its reliability using Cronbach’s alpha coefficient and composite reliability index was analyzed and confirmed due to the fact that the rate was higher than 0.7 for all the constructs. The software used for analysis was SPSS 25 and SmartPLS. The results showed that critical, creative, reflective and logical thinking skills were positively correlated with students' academic performance and there was no significant relationship between problem solving skills, decision making and metacognition with academic performance.
