Abstract
The publication of the first English-language issue of the Iranian Journal of Agricultural Economics and Development Research marks an important milestone in the journal’s development and the beginning of a new chapter in its academic vision. This issue represents more than a change in the language of publication; it reflects the journal’s commitment to expanding its readership, strengthening its engagement with the international scholarly community, and progressively aligning its practices with contemporary standards of international academic publishing.
Agricultural economics and development have undergone profound transformations in recent decades. Structural changes in production and market systems, technological advances, smart and digital agriculture, food security, resource-use efficiency, changes in agricultural policies, international trade, value chains, as well as education and the dissemination of research findings and the growing imperative of sustainable development are among the major developments reshaping the traditional boundaries of research in agricultural economics. In this context, research in agricultural economics and development requires innovative perspectives, more rigorous methodologies, and stronger connections between scientific knowledge, policymaking, and the real-world challenges facing the agricultural sector.
